A set of five delightful miniature mohair friends, inspired from the drawings made by Richard Steiff at the Stuttgart area zoo. While a student at the School or Art in Stuttgart, he would often visit the nearby zoo, always taking his sketch book with him. All of his sketches and studies of the animals were extremely lifelike and clearly illustrate Richard’s fascination and great interest in animal’s stances and movements. Posture and pose is something Richard detailed extensively in his sketches.

The Steiff zoo set is made of high-quality mohair, and where is necessary is skillfully cropped giving the five animals their realistic and unmistakable look. The collection includes a 6 inch giraffe, bear, and elephant; and a 7 inch lion and camel, all wearing the famous gold plated Button in Ear.
