Usually, advertising is not really a very fascinating subject. Unless, of course, we are talking about historical Steiff catalogs, which are themselves coveted collector's items today selling at top prices. So this is surely reason enough to pay tribute to selected brochures dating from the Steiff boom years from 1906 to 1908 by creating this Catalogue Teddy bear. He does not really need any advertising since his whole body is covered with it!

The Catalogue Teddy bear represents a double debut. Firstly, he is launching a completely new series of exclusive and artistically designed theme bears in an avant garde style. Secondly, he is made of a material that is completely new and not previously used by Steiff, namely elaborately printed fabric. Although one Steiff Teddy bear is never exactly the same as the next because they are all individually made by hand, each of these Catalogue Teddy bears is genuinely unique. Their "fur" with motifs from the hundred-year old catalogues is cut from the lengths of fabric at random and so each bear is patterned differently.

You can look forward to many more Teddy bears with unusual art motifs. And who knows - perhaps this very page will be decorating a new Catalogue Teddy bear in the next century...
